How far ahead should we involve IT in an office move?
The moment a new premises looks likely - ideally six to eight weeks out, driven almost entirely by internet lead times. Everything else about a move can flex; carrier delivery dates mostly cannot. Earlier involvement also means cabling gets planned off the floor plan instead of retrofitted around furniture.
What does an office IT relocation cost?
Fixed-scope, quoted after a look at both premises and your equipment list. The quote covers planning, cabling coordination, the move itself and day-one support, so the number is known before you commit. Out-of-scope surprises are discussed before they are worked on, at $180/hr ex GST.
Can we move without losing a business day?
Usually, yes - the standard pattern is a Friday-evening shutdown, weekend move and rebuild, and staff arriving Monday to working desks. The prerequisite is the planning: internet live in advance, cabling done, porting scheduled. Moves lose days when those happen after the trucks, not before.
Do our phone numbers move with us?
Yes. Local 08 numbers, 1300/1800 numbers and anything already on VoIP or Teams move with a scheduled port, timed so callers never hit a disconnected tone. If you are still on old copper services at the current site, the move is also the natural moment to go to Teams calling or hosted VoIP rather than paying to reinstall the past.
The new office has no cabling - is that a problem?
A common and solvable one. We scope what is needed from the floor plan, bring in licensed cablers, and have it installed and tested before moving day. Bare premises are actually easier than half-cabled ones - the plan starts clean.
