IT Support for Perth Construction Companies
Site offices that actually connect, drawings and project files that sync between the office and the job, and the security posture the big builders and government tenders now demand from their subcontractors.
Construction IT Fails Differently
Construction businesses do not work in one tidy office. The estimator is at head office, the supervisor is in a site shed with two bars of reception, the drawings are 400MB each, and the client wants the current revision - not the one from Tuesday. Generic IT support built for desk-bound businesses falls over exactly here.
The pattern that works is boring and specific: Microsoft 365 with SharePoint set up around projects rather than departments, so the site and the office see the same current documents; site sheds connected properly with 4G/5G routers rather than someone's phone hotspot; and devices that survive utes, dust and apprentices - managed so a lost tablet is a shrug, not a data breach.
Then there is the newer pressure: tier-one builders and government tenders pushing security requirements down the subcontractor chain. Questionnaires asking about MFA, backups and the Essential Eight are now part of winning work. We set the controls up and keep the evidence so the compliance section stops costing you tenders.
What We Do for Construction Businesses
Priced like everything else: $180/hr ex GST or a managed fee sized to your business.
Connectivity where you build
- Site sheds online with business-grade 4G/5G routers - fast to deploy, moved between jobs
- Wi-Fi that reaches the crib room
- Head office and sites on one secure network
Documents that sync
- SharePoint structured by project - drawings, RFIs, photos, certifications in one current place
- Big-file handling that does not choke site connections
- Access that ends when the subbie relationship does
Security that wins work
- MFA, backups and Essential Eight controls implemented and evidenced
- Security questionnaire answers you can give in writing
- Cyber insurance requirements met before renewal, not after an incident
Devices on the tools
- Rugged-appropriate tablets and laptops, set up and managed
- Lost or stolen devices wiped remotely - site theft happens
- Job management and takeoff software supported alongside the Microsoft stack
Construction IT Questions, Answered
What builders and trades ask us.
Can you get internet to a site office quickly?
Usually within days, not weeks - business-grade 4G/5G routers with external antennas cover the large majority of Perth metro sites, and the same unit moves to the next job when you demobilise. Fixed connections only make sense for long-duration sites, and we will tell you which yours is.
How should a construction company store project documents?
One SharePoint structure organised by project, with the site and office working on the same live documents - not emailed copies with _v7_FINAL in the filename. Drawings, photos, RFIs and certifications each have a home, superseded revisions stay findable, and when the project closes the whole record archives cleanly. Getting there from a shared-drive mess is a well-worn path we have walked plenty of times.
A builder sent us a security questionnaire - what do we do with it?
Send it to us before answering. Most subcontractor questionnaires map to a familiar set of controls - MFA, patching, backups, staff training - largely drawn from the Essential Eight. We implement what is genuinely missing, document what exists, and give you answers that are both honest and passing. Guessing on those forms creates contractual exposure.
What happens when a phone or tablet disappears off site?
If the device is managed, it is a non-event: remotely wiped, access revoked, replacement enrolled in minutes. Unmanaged, it is potentially every email, plan and client detail walking around Perth. Device management is cheap; the site-theft scenario is the reason it exists.
Do you understand construction software?
We support the Microsoft platform underneath everything, and work alongside your job-management, estimating and takeoff vendors rather than pretending to replace them. What we bring is making those tools, your files and your sites work together - and being the one number to call when any of it stops.
